Are You Looking For Exclusive Indian Engagement Photography?
Indian Engagement Photography or Ring Ceremony is one of the most exciting & beautiful events to capture on celluloid! Engagement or Ring Ceremony is one of the vital Pre-Wedding Ceremonies.
It is held day or 2 days prior to the wedding day or sometimes the engagement may also happen very much in advance before the wedding. Ring ceremony is also known as Engagement, Roka, Mangni or Sagaii in some other parts of the country. Tradition and rituals are still very much alive in India & arranged or proposed marriages are still common.
During Engagement or Ring Ceremony, the groom and the bride exchange rings as symbol of love and devotion. Herein lies the essence of Indian customs and traditions. The family members and relatives of bride and groom meet during Ring Ceremony. There is an exchange of gifts, jewellery and clothes.
Roka ceremony is generally held at the brides place or a place arranged by the brides parents. But now-a-days, this ceremony is not held in homes. People celebrate Roka Ceremony as it is the very first event of marriage. Roka or Ring Ceremony is held after match making by the Pundit.
After match making is done, Roka Ceremony is arranged and then the marriage date is fixed. Roka signifies that the boy & the girl are affianced to each other. An auspicious day for marriage is fixed after the Roka Ceremony. It’s a symbol of acceptance of courtship!
For the ceremony, there are two parts: Introduction & Ring Ceremony. We did this in mainly Jain Style. The first part of the ceremony took 20 minutes and involved giving blessings to the bride and the bridegroom’s family, exchanging gifts & changing.
The photos we managed to click for Karan & Radhika’s Roka / Ring Ceremony is an exemplification of Contemporary Indian Engagement Photography. The Roka Ceremony shows the colorful affair we had at the J.W.Marriott, Juhu, Mumbai. Karan & Radhika had a regal, grand & fabulous Indian Engagement. Indian Engagement Ceremonies definitely take a different photography skill set than a typical Western American Style of Wedding. The timing, colors and lighting are so much different.
Indian Engagement Photography is always a special treat, but Karan & Radhika made it all the more wonderful & exciting for us. They were so cordial, friendly, cheerful and polite & made us feel completely at home.
When we met Radhika an hour before her Roka Ceremony, in her room at the J.W.Marriott, Mumbai, she was ready, dressed in a beautiful and bright pink lehenga but she was a bit nervous. Also the size of our camera did nothing to help her! Luckily for us, we had Karan around and he engaged her very well in conversation, so she forgot the camera for a while!
After the Roka Ceremony, we got the opportunity to capture some mind blowing performances. The famous UV Band (Bappa Excel Group) began the show on a different level altogether. There were some really brilliant performances there after & then came the highlight of the show – Mika Singh with his band of Musicians & Singers.
He rocked the show as usual and to give him really good support was – Akasa Cashew Singh. They both sang duets of most of their popular punjabi songs and made everyone dance to their tunes. All in all, the whole experience was completely fun, wild and entertaining and we could get to capture a lot of candid moments.
The Roka Ceremony of Karan & Radhika wasn’t the typical setup… the theme was pretty much off-beat and at the same time, very contemporary in its class. It had a Moroccan touch and feel to it. Retro Reds & Vibrant Violets were used for the seating. They had a tent like setup, horses & Moroccan caps were used as props & also date trees were planted. Sand was spread across around it to give it a realistic feel.
Thank you Karan & Radhika for letting us share the photographs of your special moments. Thank you for being so friendly and nice to us! You both gave us an amazing opportunity to do some really exciting & challenging Indian Engagement Photography.
Here are a few of our favorite photographs from the Roka Ceremony…
