Ladakh Trip Day 2: Pahalgam-Srinagar

The Journey Continues….

We got up at around 9.00am, had our breakfast (Aloo Parathas, Curd & Pickle), checked out from the hotel and headed for a Pony Ride from there.

On the pony ride, we covered 3 breathtaking places:
1. Top view of Pahalgam from Kashmir Valley.
2. Dabian
3. Baisaran (Mini Switzerland)

I was sitting on Mastana & he was quite a mischievous and adventurous pony! On our way, we had a nice long chat with our pony guides and came to know a lot about the place we traveled.

Our 1st point was Kashmir Valley. The next was Dabian & the final point was Baisaran also known as Mini Switzerland (It truly was…Mini Swiss!)

We halted at Mini Switzerland for a bit. There, we met 2 young lovely kids. One was carrying on her arms a goat and the other one, a rabbit. We clicked pictures with them, offered them a few sweets and gave some money. We advised them to pursue studies and education.

Then we headed down to Pahalgam Market and had lunch at Nathu’s Rasoi again.

After quickly grabbing a bite of Chole Bhature, we immediately headed for Srinagar. On our way, we saw the beautiful Dal Lake. Then we had a stop at the Heritage Mughal Garden Nishat.

Nishat Baug is situated on the banks of Dal Lake with the Zabarwan Mountains as its backdrop. The Heritage Mughal Garden Nishat, has terraced lawns, cascading fountains, paint-box-bright flower beds with the panorama of Dal lake in it’s foreground.

We then took a brief halt at Jamal Resorts & Carpet Industries. We saw some really well made & artistic shawls (pashmina), carpets, jackets & other woolens.…

The Incredible Ladakh Trip

This is the 1st blog post of my most incredible journey till date! It was my journey to Leh-Ladakh that spanned over almost 25 days and this blog post and the coming blog posts will shed highlights of all the fun, frolic, adventure & challenges I faced during this one long amazing trip! I had a few photographer friends with me for company & I promise you…we had a blast!

Day 1: 17th August – Mumbai – Srinagar – Pehalgam:

We had an early morning flight to catch at 6.40am on the 17th of August and I reached the airport at 5.30am. I had only 10 minutes to do all the check-in formalities including getting the boarding pass and all this made the start of the trip a very unforgettable & anxiety driven experience. As usual, thanks to my airport anxiety… I was told to check in from a different place as opposed to my other friends who checked in from the regular check in counter. To add to this…I faced a huge problem checking in courtesy – mistake of the air authorities!

They had forgotten to stamp my Professional Camera Gear Bag and this made matters even worse. A few minutes just before boarding the air bus, the ground staff of our airline checked us for the last time & they sent me back to get the Gear Bag screened again as it was not stamped. Duh!!!

I was already short of time and this only worsened the situation. Finally all went well and I along with my friends boarded the plane to Srinagar with a Capital Halt. I managed to even click a few nice aerial pics from my Samsung Galaxy S2.…
