Maharashtrian Candid Wedding Photography – Wedding Photographer Mumbai

As one of the leading photographers in the field of Candid Maharashtrian Wedding Photography, we are excited to present to you, yet another beautiful Maharashtrian Wedding!

This wedding story is about a beautiful maharashtrian couple, Ridhima & Samit. Their wedding was simple, beautiful & at the same time grand, classy, vibrant & colourful! The pictures below are a testimony to this!

Samit Sawant, the groom, hails from Santa Clara, California. He was dressed impeccably for the D-Day! Sumit not only comes across but actually is genuinely a very simple & down to earth guy! Ridhima Satam, the bride, on the other hand is someone who comes across as full of energy, bubbly & enthusiastic and she was looking extremely beautiful and photogenic for the occasion!

She was looking stunning & was dressed in a traditional nine yard ‘Paithani Saree’. The wedding was a proper Maharashtrian Wedding & was done with great pomp! It was done with great religious observance and as Candid Wedding Photographers, we had a great time capturing the traditions & rituals at the wedding. Having a good understanding of the above rituals is very important for capturing Candid Moments especially with when it comes to Maharashtrian Candid Wedding Photography.

Here is a brief explanation of some of these Important Maharashtrian Wedding Customs & Rituals:

Antarpaat:
At the time of shubh muhurat, the girl’s maternal uncle leads her to the mandap. The girl and boy are not allowed to glance at each other; therefore, the girl is taken to the mandap by raising an Antarpaat (a white cloth that is used as a partition between the bride and groom. Thereafter, the shlokas are chanted. This is followed by the removal of Antarpaat. People shower Akshata (unbroken rice) on the couple. After that, the garlands are exchanged between the bride and groom. The couple takes seven mangalpheras in front of the holy fire.

Laxmi Narayan Puja :
The bride is considered the goddess Laxmi and the groom is taken to be Lord Narayan. After the completion of marriage ceremony, Laxmi Narayan puja is conducted, in which the bride and groom are worshipped.

Jhal Phirawne:
The girl’s hand is formally given to the boy in the ceremony known as Jhal Phirawne. More popularly, it is known as Kanyadaan. In this ceremony, a cane dish is taken in which 21 lit lamps or diyas are placed. For the first time, the dish is placed on the bride’s head. After kanyadaan, the groom ties the mangalsutra around the bride’s neck and applies sindoor (vermillion) in her hair. In return, she applies chandan (tilak) on his forehead.

The wedding was held in a mandap & was a brief affair consisting of Antarpaat, Laxmi Narayan Puja & Jhal Phirawne. The rituals followed during the occasion were simple, yet very vibrant & colourful. After tying the Nuptial Knot. both Ridhima & Samit seeked the blessings of the elderly people in their family & organized lavish dinner at the reception party for all their friends & family.

The entire wedding was extremely well planned and organized and we must really commend Mr.Prakash Sawant (Father of Samit, the groom) for making this wedding a grand success! Since Samit had come only a few days prior to the wedding from Santa Clara, all the necessary arrangements had to be planned well in advance & Mr.Prakash Sawant was greatly instrumental in making most things happen.

Mr.Prakash Sawant, is an extremely warm & kind person & he treated us with a lot of love & respect. He took great care of us during the entire wedding and we are extremely grateful to him for such a kind gesture.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Samit & Ridhima on their wedding & wish them the very best of success, love & happiness in life…

Captures from Indian Wedding Photographer, Mumbai Art Pixel Photography (Amit Desai)

“Photography is a medium through which I experience my affinity towards the divine. When I’m close to nature, when I am all by myself, lone (but not lonely), I experience this deep connection with a force that cannot be merely described in words where photography serves as a thread that ties my bond with The Eternal, The Almighty, The All, The Everything & also The Nothing! Lets meet, THERE!”
