Ladakh Trip Day 9: Alchi – Leh – Art Pixel Photography

We got up at 9.30am, had breakfast (Aloo Paratha) & left for Leh. After leaving our Hotel, we first visited the Alchi Monastery which was very close from our hotel & we visited the place by foot.

The Alchi Monastery had old style of paintings, a huge statue of compassion. There was a very beautiful, colourful and huge Rangoli made that reflected their various symbols. Unfortunately Photography was prohibited and hence we could click the Monastery Interiors.

After that we headed for Leh. On our way we first came across the confluence of Sindhu (Indus) & Zanskar Rivers. It’s simply a beautiful sight where these 2 rivers meet. It’s very easily identifiable as the waters of these two rivers is quite different & where they meet, the water becomes very apparent.

The next location was Magnetic Hill. This location will remain as one of our favourites! There is a spot made on the road where this Magnetic Effect is felt. If you take your car on this spot, even when the road is a slight uphill climb, the car defies gravity and moves ahead magically.

When Mr.Hadi showed us this in reality, we simply couldn’t believe our eyes. On the uphill climb we took a U-Turn and even this time the car started moving in reverse on the uphill climb! Both the times, Mr.Hadi had not put his feet on the accelerator!!!

After this we headed further…

We came across The Patthar Sahib Gurudwara. This is an extremely beautiful Gurudwara & it’s beauty can be felt only by visiting the place. We took quite a few photos there and proceeded further.

Then we took a halt at the Hall of Fame. This place was one of the highlights of the day! If you are an Indian, this place is a must visit. Achievements of our Indian Army, strategies devised during the war, stolen items at the time of the war, enemy weapons, ammunition, etc is displayed at the hall of fame!

After this, we left for Leh and after crossing the Leh Airport, we reached Leh in just a few minutes. We were put up at Munshi Continental Hotel. It’s an extremely beautiful hotel but the only problem is they generally do not serve food and if at all they do, its very basic and average.

Hence you need to go outside to have lunch or dinner. However the good thing is that there are many Hotels & Restaurants nearby.

After checking into our Hotel, we dropped our luggage & went down outside to High Life Restaurant, a place just bang opposite our Hotel.

This place is quite steeply priced but serves good food generally.

After having some heavy lunch we came back in to our Hotel, took some rest & then at 4.45pm we left for sight-seeing at Leh – Shanti Stupa.

Shanti Stupa was inaugurated by Dalai Lama. This Stupa was built for World Peace. Shanti Stupa is approximately 3 kms west from the Market Place. This place is built at a height above Changspa Village & can be reached by car or on foot via steep flight or more than 500 steps.
It’s broad terrace makes an excellent spot to watch the sunrise and is popular with early morning yogis.

We had a wonderful time clicking some amazing photos there. After that we came back to our hotel. We had dinner in our room (we were feeling lazy to go out for dinner because we were tired after travelling and sight seeing), watched T.V for a while & went to sleep.

“Photography is a medium through which I experience my affinity towards the divine. When I’m close to nature, when I am all by myself, lone (but not lonely), I experience this deep connection with a force that cannot be merely described in words where photography serves as a thread that ties my bond with The Eternal, The Almighty, The All, The Everything & also The Nothing! Lets meet, THERE!”
